Poetry Assignment #2

I think the mark of a good poet is being able to write about anything which inspires them. Letting go and revealing thier true feeling on certain subject matters. The assignment today was to write a poem on a event which happened in the past week.

Here is my poem.

NaNoWriMo

Writing without
Anger or disease.
Without perfectionist
Ideals.

Letting go of the past
Where you struggled to survive

Letting the novel flow
To reach it's final destination

Being ragged around the edges.
Letting yourself be a kitchen.
With flour dust and dough everywhere,
Dirty dishes in the sink.

Reading the business's history
Seeing it mirror the plunge we take
When writing words
For their count,
Not for their
Realism.

Writer's Beware!

There's a new sherriff in town and she is out looking for peace, justice and tranquity. This blog is to have a safe forum for me to publish my poetry, for others to enjoy, critique, and comment on said poetry. This site is for any one who enjoys a good poem.

I've just discovered www.poewar.com and 30 poems in thirty days. I'll be posting my responses to the exercises posted, so if you want to follow along with me, comparing and contrasting poems, I would love your input. Today is day one, and the requested exercise is to write a poem about your childhood.

Circumspect Childhood

compromised their
being with us,
fighting with candlesticks
Drawn.

game of Clue
parents at fault
older ones
tossing the fragile
Case of my sister

back and forth.
like rocking.
Extreme.

This poem is about arguements my parents had about my sister whom they suspected had ADD.
A single memory of a moment can make a solid poem. Sometimes simple is better.
